Support for families based on diagnosis to connect with other parent volunteers with similar experiences for moral/emotional support, resources, and connection from before birth throughout the lifespan. Warm contact with families via email, phone, text, social media platforms. Provides training and coordinates matches between helping parents and referred parents, coordinates support groups for parents and the community. Supports public awareness and outreach to the community regarding individuals with special needs and or disabilities. Provides one on one parent and family support, help with resource navigation and understanding, and the heart of our program is matching parents whose child or loved one has received a new diagnosis or is going through a new or difficult situation with a trained volunteer Helping Parent for support. We also support several parent groups in our community including Amazing Moms, Autism Empowerment, PEACE NW Dads Group, D.A.N.A. Dreamers, Special Kids and Special Mothers, Club E, Special Needs Moms of East Vancouver/Camas, and Dual Diagnosis Group by attending group meetings, providing coordinator support, sharing resources, receiving parent referrals, donating supplies and connecting families.
