“The love we give away is the only love we keep.”
– Elbert Hubbard
The Legacy of Love PEACE Memorial Fund is an expression of the unconditional love we have for those people we hold sacred. It is an investment of love so that the ones that we have had to say goodbye to, way too soon, will live on.
The Legacy of Love allows us to continue giving unconditional love. The funds collected through this memorial legacy will be used 100% to help those in need. Through this unconditional love, we will continue to grow our beloved community.
Their Stories
The Legacy of Love PEACE Memorial Fund honors those we've lost, keeping their love alive through kindness and support for others. It's a tribute to those who touched our lives, inspiring others in their memory.
Each story here reflects love that transcends loss, reminding us that while they are physically gone, their spirit uplifts us through the Legacy of Love.
Daniel Fitzi
“Daniel was wonderful, funny and kind. He loved Veggie Tales, Minions and Ernest. He was an amazing dancer, loved Karate and a fantastic artist. He spent much of his time drawing pictures of Veggie Tales as a way to remind others how much God loved them. He was an incredible son, and the pride of his mother who loves him with an undying love . Daniel brought good into this world, and he is missed every single second. I envision him dancing with God and waiting on us all to join them.”
Tim Grimes
“Listening to others talk about you warms my heart in ways I could never imagine. Of course, I never imagined that you would leave this world so early. But my son, you left this world a better place, and those of us who knew you feel your passing. You saw good in everyone, but somehow couldn't find it in yourself, so now you walk with your sister. I miss that sense of humor, that goofiness and the hugs, but I am so glad you finally found your peace.”
Betty Ferguson
“Betty Ferguson fully lived her 95 years raising seven children with her high school sweetheart, Murray, teaching special education in our public schools, and enjoying many close friendships. And she liked to have a good time! As my late father once said, ‘Wherever Betty goes, there’s a party.’ To me and my six siblings, she was simply the most wonderful mother a child could hope to have. We will miss her deeply.”
Darlene Carr
“My amazing mother, my warrior, was my biggest fan and I was hers. She lived loud and was beautiful and proud in life and in death, inspiring all of us through her positivity and unconditional love.”
It was this positivity and unconditional love that influenced PEACE NW to start the Legacy of Love platform so that Darlene's unconditional love can continue.
Betty Jones
“Aunt Betty was such a inspiration to me. She was a mom, grandma and aunt who was there for those that needed her, even though she regularly was dealing with her own challenges. Watching her raise her youngest children gave me a road map on how to be a single mom raising children with unique needs. Thank you for all the memories, all the love, and the amazing life lessons.”
Eugene “Gene” MaierEugene “Gene” Maier"
“Gene, loved life, the church, his family, and especially math. He was a math educator who started the Math Learning Center and made math approachable, and even fun, for many “mathphobes.” Despite an active professional life, he prioritized his family. One of his legacies is that, along with my mom, Vaunie, they set up a trust for our son. On my dad’s death, it was funded with a life insurance policy with enough money to buy a home for our son.”
Jan Geis
“Jan Geis passed away on July 18, 2023, surrounded by her loving and devoted family. Born in Vancouver on May 6, 1943, she was the elder daughter of Pin and Lavina Mills. Jan graduated from Fort Vancouver High School and Clark College. More than anything, Jan loved being Mom to Jason and Tina. She supported all activities related to their lives.
Jan was devoted to her husband of 51 years, Neil, who passed away in 2019. She was a wonderful Nana to Jake, Jordan and Gisele. Jan was a loving sister, aunt and friend. She had an extensive group of friends, many of whom she had known and loved since grade school. Jan was athletic and thoroughly enjoyed watching her children and grandchildren excel in sports, and she was an avid Seahawks, Mariners, and Blazers fan. After being a homemaker, she was a school bus driver and had a heart for her special education students. Jan was a Christian her entire life. She loved the Lord and lived her faith every day.
Jan will be forever missed by her son, Jason Geis; daughter, Tina Diehl and husband, Mike; grandchildren, Jake Geis, Jordan Geis, and Gisele Diehl; sister, Joanie Sheron and husband Rich; nephews, Chuck Sheron and wife Angie, Chad Sheron and wife Kim, and Adam Sheron.
Laura Grimes
“She taught me so much about life - things that have to be accepted and things that should be fought. Her tenacity was unmatched, and her loyalty was without equal. Her smile remains one of the things I see when I think of her. That and her eye-roll... My little red-headed girl, you are always with me.”
