Special Celebrations is a volunteer, parent-led group dedicated to creating social opportunities for our loved ones with a disability or special health care need.
Special Celebrations parent group creates inclusive events and community outings for individuals who experience a disability or special health care need and their families to build community and live a full and meaningful life. Our events engage members of our parent group and community by helping with every aspect from volunteering, making donations, connecting with each other one to one, and sharing about our group with other families. We research and create inclusive community outings to support families living a full and meaningful life without the fear of judgement and help families learn and feel like they are not alone. Parents and caregivers have ongoing support and connection from each other in our online parent group, Special Celebrations -Support, Resources and Events. Here, families reach out for many support needs including requesting celebrators attend birthday parties or send cards for special occasions when they have no family or friends RSVP. Our group is there to help make sure everyone is celebrated. All of this helps to build resilience and empower the families we serve
Some of the sensory friendly, inclusive events we host yearly include
- Bingo and leprechaun trap building contest
- Easter Egg Hunt
- Themed Dance
- Harvest Festival
- Sensitive Santa
- Community Outings
- And more
